Q14: "Don't lean on your own understanding" (Prov 3:5) — using understanding vs. leaning on it
Response to question about how to know truth when you can't trust your own understanding or tradition
Mike distinguishes "using" your understanding (necessary and legitimate) from "leaning on" it (placing it above God's revealed word). Leaning on your understanding means prioritizing your experiential or rational conclusions over clear Scripture when there is a conflict. He gives the example of Trinity: not fully comprehensible but clearly revealed, so trust it.
