Q17: Christian practices at parties/weddings — drinking and dancing are fine in moderation

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 16) 01:03:30 – 01:04:30

Response to question about Christian behavior at weddings

Mike affirms that both drinking and dancing are permissible for Christians. He cites Jesus making wine at a wedding (John 2) as strong evidence that alcohol is not inherently sinful. He personally chooses not to drink though he holds it as permissible. Dancing is not inherently bad; the problem is when it is sexualized. The real concerns are drunkenness and sexualization, not the behaviors themselves.

Partriarchy

One of the key differences between an egalitarian and a patriarchal marriage is in the area of authority and will. In a patriarchal marriage, the man is set up as the final decision maker of the home and he is given the right to make a decision for his wife even if it overrules her will
