Christian rock and metal can honor God but requires vigilance — the genre's sinful elements easily infect the message
Question from Simon Batha about whether Christian rock and metal can honor God.
Mike is open to Christian heavy metal from personal experience booking bands at a Christian coffee shop in the 1990s. His caution: genres carry embedded cultural values and sin patterns (themes of violence, hatred, transgression are endemic to death/black metal). A Christian in these genres must actively resist absorbing those values, or their message becomes mixed. If songs are mostly about mockery, judgment of others, and tearing down — the genre's sin has infested the ministry, not just the sound.
