People in doctrinal confusion sometimes drift toward Catholic practice for aesthetic or experiential reasons rather than theological ones.

Mike warns against using the beauty of Catholic architecture, liturgy, or the richness of practice as theological validation. He invokes Jesus's critique of the Pharisees in Matt 23 (broad phylacteries, elongated tassels, expansive prayers) — the liturgy of the Pharisees was beautiful and irrelevant to the theology being right. Mormon temples are also beautiful. Beauty is not a criterion for doctrinal truth. He recommends his two-hour video on Catholicism as a focused resource.
