Question: What does the Bible say about modesty? Is a bikini sport uniform sinful?

Mike acknowledges he cannot fully escape his cultural conditioning but lays out biblical principles: (1) OT uses 'uncovering nakedness' as a euphemism for sexual sin — nakedness is taken seriously. (2) Adam and Eve covered themselves; God made them coverings. (3) NT repeatedly commands modesty. (4) Whatever culture you are in, if it is not governed by Christian commitments, it will be more immodest than a Christian should be. (5) Men bear responsibility for their own lust — it is wrong to project all blame onto women for how they dress. (6) That said, much contemporary clothing is objectively immodest. Mike personally avoids the beach because of the personal struggle it would create.
