Dust-to-dust theology supports cremation being theologically neutral

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 24) 00:02:00 – 00:04:30

Mike grounds the cremation discussion in Genesis and the nature of death as returning to dust.

God pronounced dust to dust at the fall — the end result of death is dust, not merely a dead body. Cremation accelerates this natural process. Whether eaten by a shark or buried in a field, all bodies eventually become dust. God can resurrect from any state of particles — he is not limited by the physical condition of remains. The miraculous nature of resurrection means God needs no minimum of physical material to work with.
