The Parable of the Dishonest Manager: Jesus uses a bad actor to illustrate one positive quality — shrewd urgency about the future
Reading and explaining Luke 16:1-13
The manager is dishonest and wasting his master's possessions. Facing termination, he shrewdly reduces debts to secure his future. His master commends his shrewdness. Jesus is not endorsing the man's sin but uses him as an example of one thing: the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light. The lesson is urgency — the man knew everything was about to perish and acted accordingly for his future.
