When were angels created? Scripture does not say explicitly, but Job 38:7 implies angels were present and rejoicing during the creation of the earth.

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 28) 00:51:03 – 00:54:08

Joanne Garabe asks whether angels were created on Day One, citing Nehemiah 9:6.

Winger notes Genesis 1 does not specify when angels were made. Nehemiah 9:6 mentions God creating "the heaven of heavens with all their hosts" — "hosts" may refer to angels but could also refer to stars; the passage is ambiguous. The clearest pointer is Job 38:7 (God speaking to Job in poetry): "when the morning stars sang together and the sons of God shouted for joy" — set during the description of creation. This strongly implies angels existed by the time the earth was being formed. Winger cautions against pressing the hyper-literal sense of the surrounding poetry (the earth's cornerstone, doors of the sea, etc.) while accepting the implication about angelic presence.
