Spiritual doubt overcome through volitional trust: Mike's personal testimony of months of intellectual and emotional doubt resolved by choosing to trust God regardless of feelings.

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 30) 01:15:34 – 01:21:04

Q17 from Healthy Bleach: feeling cut off from God, wondering if prayer is talking to oneself, if faith is wishful thinking.

Mike shares a personal narrative: sin opened a door to doubt, which snowballed into a sustained crisis. He worked through apologetics and resolved all his major intellectual questions — but still felt doubt emotionally. He recognized the remaining doubt was a will issue, not an intellectual one. He drove to the beach to worship, felt nothing, and prayed a commitment: "I'm going to trust you anyway." He did not feel better immediately. Later, reading about the flood waters receding in Genesis, he had an experience of what he believed was the Spirit speaking to him — a promise that the "flood" was receding and would never be that bad again. He wrote it in his Bible with a date and question mark. Months later his joy, hope, and confidence were restored. He frames the key lesson as: choose to trust even when feelings disagree; direct your behaviors toward God and let your heart follow. He credits this personal experience as the root of his apologetics ministry.
