Objection to Premise 2: maybe the universe is infinite in the past. Response: an actually infinite past is impossible — you could never traverse infinite moments to arrive at the present.
Objection — infinite past
Two philosophical arguments: (1) Without a starting point, you could never begin traversing the timeline to reach today (JP Moreland's bottomless hole analogy). (2) You can never cross an actual infinity of moments — removing half of infinity still leaves infinity, meaning no progress is made. Like counting to infinity one number per second — it can never be completed. Mike: if the past is infinite, the universe has "counted past infinity" to reach now, which is absurd.
