Hyperdispensationalism claims OT saints were saved by faith plus works. Refuted by Romans 4: Abraham was justified by faith alone, not works. Romans 11:6: grace and works are philosophically unmixable — if by grace, then not works; if by works, then not grace. These categories can't be blended. This applies to every era, not just the NT.
OT salvation by faith alone — Romans 4 and 11:6
Romans 4:2-5: Abraham believed God and it was credited as righteousness. He didn't work; he trusted. Romans 11:6: if by grace, it's no longer of works — otherwise grace isn't grace. Works and grace are oil and water. The Augustinian/Pauline gospel: justification by faith has always been the mechanism, from Abraham onward. Hyperdispensationalism and Catholic merit theology both violate this.
