Jew/Gentile distinctions continued after conversion: Jews kept the law, Gentiles did not
Mike demonstrates that the Jew/Gentile pair retained functional differences in the early church.
Paul never argued Jews should stop obeying the law — only that they could not impose it on Gentiles. The apostles continued observing the law after the resurrection. Peter in Acts 10 said he had never eaten anything unclean. The Acts 15 council presumed Jews would continue observing the law; the question was only whether Gentile Christians should. Jewish Christians did; Gentile Christians did not. 1 Corinthians 7:18-20 confirms: if circumcised, don't undo it; if uncircumcised, don't seek circumcision. Paul acknowledges Jew/Gentile distinctions remain relevant for behavior even though irrelevant for justification.
