Tim Stratton's journey from cage-stage Calvinist determinist to Molinist — catalyzed by noticing atheists calling themselves "free thinkers" while denying free will, and Calvinists doing the same in reverse.

How Free Will Conflicts with Atheism (Dr. Tim Stratton) 00:05:06 – 00:09:10

Stratton's background and what sparked his research

Stratton was a youth pastor challenged by students becoming atheists. He committed to follow truth wherever it leads. As a Calvinistic determinist, he noticed atheists denying free will while calling themselves "free thinkers" — a contradiction. He also saw the same problem in his own Calvinistic determinism. This led to a master's at Biola University and doctoral work laser-focused on this topic. He's now a Molinist who argues exhaustive determinism (whether divine or naturalistic) is false.
