Christians must have spines — courage of conviction — when facing cultural pressure. Not angry Christians, but Christians who speak truth clearly and wisely. The persecuted church's lesson: when you know you're following God's revealed Word, you don't need man's permission.

The Catholic Magisterium Is a LOT Like the Sanhedrin: The Mark Series pt 44 (11_27-33) 00:13:19 – 00:17:23

Application on Christian courage in the face of authority and cultural pressure

Jesus doesn't back down before the Sanhedrin — he keeps doing what God wants him to do. Application: when you know from Scripture what's right (exclusivity of Christ, biblical sexual ethics, etc.), the cost of holding these positions is rising but the teachings are clear. We need Christians with spines, not spite — the difference between courageous conviction and angry reactionism. Common failure modes: (1) quiet Christians who lack spine, (2) angry Christians speaking from spite not principle. Some Christian leaders become people-pleasers as their platforms grow — "the number one thing pastors admit to as a personal struggle is being a people-pleaser." Congregations contribute to this by rewarding likability over faithfulness.
