The culture would not have read 'no male and female' as abolishing role distinctions

The Jews who used this language, and the culture that read it, did not think it ruled out role differences or other distinctions related to gender. Stretching 'no male and female' to abolish role distinctions in the church would never have occurred to them. This is bad Bible study — building a bridge that does not exist.
