Using Scripture against Scripture is the Sadducee/progressive playbook: Obama used the Sermon on the Mount to dismiss Romans on same-sex marriage; Rob Bell used "God is love" to dismiss hell. The only safe position is believing ALL of Scripture.

Obama: "I would refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which is in my mind more central than an obscure passage in Romans." This is the progressive pattern: elevating one biblical idea to dismiss another. Examples: "God is love" vs. judgment; Sermon on the Mount vs. Romans; grace vs. holiness. Rob Bell's "Gandhi in hell?" uses emotional reaction to a cultural icon to override clear Scripture. "The minute I start taking one of the things God says and fight against something else God said with that thing, I am reinventing Christianity in my own image." The only safe Christian position: believe the Sermon on the Mount AND the book of Romans.
