Exegetical Dictionary of the NT (1990): kephale refers to 'hierarchy of God, Christ, man, woman' — sovereignty in Eph 5:23

Male Headship: Is it REALLY Biblical? Women in Ministry part 8 01:06:14 – 01:07:15

Mike surveys the EDNT.

The Exegetical Dictionary of the New Testament (1990) defines kephale as referring to 'the hierarchy of God, Christ, man, woman.' It says in Ephesians 5:23 'kephale is intended to express sovereignty.' Though the authors then argue exegetically for softening this through Paul's later statements in 1 Corinthians 11, their definitional work clearly includes authority. No mention of 'source.'
