God views slavery as bad throughout Scripture; marriage as good and God-ordained

The Exodus narrative presents slavery as bondage God rescues His people from. Jesus came to 'set the captives free.' God never presents marriage as something to be freed from. Gender differences are grounded in creation; slavery is grounded in circumstances (poverty, oppression, prisoners of war). Marriage is desirable and part of God's intent; slavery is unfortunate.
