Refuting the ceremonial uncleanness explanation
Reason 1 to reject the uncleanness view: no verse in the Bible anywhere says or even suggests this was the reason. Reason 2: women regularly participated in activities forbidden to unclean people — worship music, community gatherings, entering the temple courtyard, feast day celebrations, Passover preparation. If women were considered perpetually unclean, they couldn't have done any of these.
