Cloth coverings in first-century context: toga and palla
Mike describes the actual garments involved in head covering practices.
For men, part of the toga had extra cloth (like a sideways hoodie) that could be pulled over the head. For women, the palla was the female version with similar extra cloth like a shawl. Paul wants opposite practices: women covered, men uncovered, specifically when praying or prophesying.
