Paul uses physis nine times consistently: never means 'custom'
Mike examines all of Paul's uses of physis.
Tom Schreiner notes Paul's uses: Jews 'by nature' (by birth), children of wrath 'by nature' (born in sin), natural branches (originally part of tree), Gentiles doing law 'by nature' (instinctively), uncircumcised 'by nature' (physically), not gods 'by nature.' Romans 1:26-27 and 1 Corinthians 11:14 indicate how people should act due to God's intended order. Paul NEVER once uses physis to mean custom.

Was God’s Wrath Satisfied in Christ or Paid in Hell?
