it is my understanding that the word ezer, which is often in translations of Genesis 2:18 translated as “helper” is a Hebrew word which does not suggest a subordinate role but rather could be translated as an indispensible part of the whole or one who can do something for a person that they are unable to do themselves i.e. an indispensible companion.
