Well, God knows everything; He knows all our thoughts. Now, perhaps many of today’s Calvinists don’t believe that they can fall away from the faith. But I hold to what the Bible says in the whole Book Of Hebrews (the warnings of what happened to the Israelites in the wilderness); Paul not wanting to be a castaway, and further explaining the consequences of the Hebrew’s sin and unbelief(1Cor 9:24 – 1Cor 10:12);…. It’s basically all over the entire New Testament. I know of many “Calvinists” (and I’m not pointing at all of them as people, but at the Doctrine that puts them into such a superficial state of spiritual ease whereby), that believe God does everything, so they don’t have to do nothing. Many don’t carry their crosses, watch against what they let into their eye and ear-gates (watch and listen to things that God hates), or even heed the words of James 2 & 3, or like how can bitter and fresh water flow from the same spring?, etc, etc…. I guess it’s easier to just turn away and pretend the inner war within does not exist? (God forbid!) Anyway, I think, all this is rooted in some type of unbelief as to what’s really going on – I see Calvinists writing blogs about doctrine that live unholy lives (their prayer lives are outward, and not inward; they attend ungodly movies in theatres, they love watching sports for hrs upon hrs every week) – it’s almost like they have no fear of God before their eyes, because they profess an assurance – but an assurance that doesn’t grow in grace. And I’m not talking about a “works based salvation” but what James said “Faith without works is dead”, etc, etc. A salvation that presses until Christ is birthed in us, formed in us – Christ in us, for Christ is Salvation. Anyway, we have to let the Potter have His way with us, and if we trust Him, we will let Him have His way with us – we shall suffer; but we learn obedience by it. These crazy, unbiblical believes must be rooted out of us. Satan has a counterfeit for every fruit, even a false assurance. Christians should be growing in grace, in the love and knowledge of God – and these things are revealed to us by Him. The Scriptures point to Him, but many will not go to Him to have Life, have Him. No wonder the “church” is weak. Without Him we can do nothing. Paul came in word and power; many come in word with no power to back up the Word. Anyway, lol, a man once said, “if Calvin were to come back and witness those that said they were Calvinists, I think he would be shocked and disgusted”. These “Calvinistic” teachings are deeply rooted in modern day christendom. But I do know many who are Calvinists that arenot holy (without holiness no man will see the Lord); don’t love God with all their hearts, soul, mind, and strength, etc, etc and are content with their own spiritual condition; and I believe God loves them too, and is giving them space to repent, even as He gave Judas. His ways are higher than our ways; His thoughts higher than our thoughts. And I’m not comparing Judas to Calvinists; but I am saying, we are all sinners, and can only be saved by Christ, in Christ. Shalom. Much love dear sister.
