HI Rolando, welcome to my blog! You are right in that dead can be physical or spiritual. The prodigal son is the primary source of what a spiritually dead person is like. When we see a passage that could be either spiritual or physical, we must look carefully at the context to determine which it is. In the passage that I quoted above, Steven Lawson from Ligonier Ministries, a well known ministry of R C Sproul, teaches that John 5:25 refers to the spiritually dead. So we have their agreement that those who hear are the spiritually dead. It is a very powerful testimony from Jesus who ought to know what the spiritually dead can do.
