The father was handing the Jews over to Jesus. They didn’t believe in Jesus. Jesus was trying to convince them of who He was, the Messiah. Previously Jews were drawn to the father by the Law of Moses, which they didn’t do very well at keeping. Now Jesus is saying you are still drawn to the father, but it will be through me not the Mosaic Law. It has nothing to do with a calvinistic view of predestination. And they will be drawn to Him through His Holy Spirit now.
