The Opposing Argument
Complementarian position: God can sovereignly gift women while still ordaining male-only leadership structures through Scripture. Egalitarian response: Paul does not separate "gifting" from "functioning in that gift." In 1 Cor 12-14, gift and function are one: God places the member in the body (not in a side room). The body's need for that gift, and the Spirit's assignment of it, are the authorization to serve. Adding a gender filter is to claim a gatekeeping authority Paul explicitly says belongs only to God.
