Judges 17:5-13

The only biblical example of a "priest of the home" comes from Judges 17, where Micah — an idol worshiper — consecrated his own son as a priest and then hired a Levite to serve as his personal household priest. This unauthorized, idolatrous practice is the sole biblical precedent for the concept of a "household priest." The NT knows no such role. Jesus is the one High Priest (Heb 4:14-16). All believers are priests (1 Pet 2:5, 9). There is one mediator between God and men — Christ Jesus (1 Tim 2:5). The "husband as priest of the home" teaching is an extrabiblical tradition that has no scriptural foundation; its only parallel is an idolater in the most lawless period of Israel's history.
