Ancient sources on disrupting lectures with uninformed questions
Mike acknowledges the historical evidence Keener cites about lecture decorum.
Throughout the first-century Mediterranean world, novices were expected to learn quietly while advanced students were expected to ask questions during lectures. Keener cites Plutarch and Aulus Gellius for these practices. Women would have received some education in church and synagogue settings but were generally less likely to spend time in official lectures as men. Mike does not argue against this historical background.
