Women can have the gift of discernment but are restricted in its public exercise during church governance

Mike addresses the objection that his view means women cannot have a spiritual gift.

Mike clarifies he is not saying women cannot have the gift of distinguishing spirits (1 Cor 12:10). They simply do not exercise it publicly in a way that takes authority over the congregation or their husbands during the church governance moment of judging prophecy. A woman would still use discernment for herself, her family, when a Jehovah's Witness knocks on the door, etc. Just as a woman may be gifted in leadership or teaching but there are right and wrong contexts for those gifts, the same applies to discernment in the context of public prophecy evaluation.
