Not an all-or-nothing approach: less strict rules outside marriage and eldership, but still present

The examples from scripture show that hard and fast rules don't spill over into all of society the way hard patriarchalists claim. In society in general, there's less application of male headship than in marriage and church. Thesis: maybe societal roles outside marriage just aren't as important as eldership and marriage, which is why the rules aren't as strict there.
