Definition of pastor: a shepherding/caretaking leadership term synonymous with elder
Everything Women Can and Can't Do According to the Bible: Women in Ministry part 13
02:33:39 – 02:35:12
Mike defines how he uses the word 'pastor' based on scripture.
Ephesians 4:11 mentions 'pastors and teachers' — the only time the noun 'pastor' is used as a title in the NT. Mike believes it refers to elders who pastor and teach. Some think 'pastor' just means caretaker (anyone caring for people). Mike argues it's a caretaking LEADERSHIP term — the concept of shepherding is used of Jesus (1 Peter 2:25, Hebrews 13:20, John 10:11), of elders specifically (1 Peter 5, Acts 20), and of Peter as apostle. Every time it's used, it carries authority connotation.
