Only two ongoing official positions in NT: Elder and Deacon

Everything Women Can and Can't Do According to the Bible: Women in Ministry part 13 02:37:15 – 02:38:47

Mike argues for a simpler church structure.

Biblically, there are only two ongoing official positions: Elder and Deacon. The elder has authority; the deacon has either no authority or far less (no elder-like authority). Functionally in churches, 'pastor' often overlaps or replaces the elder role, muddying distinctions between who can be an elder vs. who is a pastor but not officially an elder. This causes confusion even in churches using both titles.
