Using pastor as catch-all title creates a slippery slope toward egalitarianism
Everything Women Can and Can't Do According to the Bible: Women in Ministry part 13
02:38:47 – 02:40:50
Mike warns about the practical consequences of loose terminology.
A female 'pastor' who serves as children's music director isn't doing elder work — that's fine. But the title creates confusion and a genuine slippery slope. What starts as 'we're just calling her a pastor because she does caretaking' ends up as 'why can't she do all the pastor things?' Give it 10-20 years and many of these churches will become egalitarian. Recommends: get back to using Elder and Deacon, or use Pastor as synonym for Elder only, not as a catch-all.
