Linda Belleville's argument: every other OT use of 'ezer' has no connotation of submission; God himself is most commonly called 'ezer' in Scripture.
Egalitarian case that 'ezer' doesn't imply subordination
Dr. Linda Belleville (egalitarian) argues that no other OT use of 'ezer' implies the helper is in a lower position than the one being helped. Mike surveyed the uses and agrees -- there's nothing there. The most common subject called 'ezer' in the Bible is God himself (e.g., Hosea 13:9: 'you are against me, against your helper'). Even English translators don't think 'helper' means subordinate.
