Mike warns about the theological cost of denying that elders have authority.
Mike argues that denying all authority to church leaders in order to support egalitarianism sacrifices a crucial biblical teaching. Jesus warned about the misuse of authority but never denied its existence — he told leaders to exercise authority through service. 'Everyone has authority' is just another way of saying 'nobody has authority.' The proper response to authority abuse is not to deny authority exists but to ensure it is exercised as Christ commanded — through servant leadership.
