Matthew 24 context: Temple destruction and two distinct questions

Matthew 24:1-8 opens with disciples asking about the temple's destruction and Jesus' coming. Jesus first predicts the temple's destruction (AD 70), then addresses the future age. The 'composite sign' in v.7-14 refers to events throughout this age (wars, famines, etc.) that precede the end. Jesus explicitly says these do NOT signal the immediate end.
