The Joseph Smith Papers project published the Egyptian Grammar and Alphabet documents, exposing them to scholarly scrutiny

I Think I Have Proof That Mormonism Is Not True 00:36:18 – 00:37:21

Recent LDS document releases and their apologetic implications

Mike references the Joseph Smith Papers project — a massive scholarly effort by the LDS Church to publish Smith's original documents. Among the materials published (which had previously been difficult to access) are the Egyptian Grammar and Alphabet documents Smith created, showing in detail his claimed methodology for translating hieroglyphs. Mike says the LDS Church found these 'very shaming' but included them anyway. He argues that even without Egyptological expertise, the mere existence of these documents refutes the 'direct revelation only' apologetic.
