Tip 6: Go higher — set goals rooted in godly, selfless ambition rather than worldly self-interest

A Christian Guide to New Year's Resolutions | 7 Tips 00:12:19 – 00:13:49

Sixth of seven tips. Mike calls believers to transcend secular motivations for self-improvement.

Mike argues that worldly goals (lose weight to be attractive, feel good) are 'weak sauce' for a believer. He reframes common goals in godly terms: exercise to offer your body as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1), to be healthy enough to serve others, to be a better parent and honor God. Business success should be motivated by a desire to support ministries, provide for employees, and glorify Christ. He invokes the scriptural concept of 'no selfish ambition' (Philippians 2:3) and contrasts it with 'godly ambition.'
