Explaining the practical/liturgical consequences of the purgatory doctrine
Because Catholics believe the living can help the deceased move out of purgatory faster, Catholic funerals always include prayers to 'assist' the dead. Additionally, donations, offerings, pilgrimages, and indulgences can shorten one's time in purgatory — connecting the doctrine directly to financial and devotional practice.
