Acts 1:6-8 — Jesus does not promise imminence at the ascension; redirects disciples to mission
Mike cites a post-resurrection passage that confirms the same pattern: unknown timing, mission focus.
At the ascension, the disciples ask 'Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?' Jesus answers: 'It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses...' (Acts 1:6-8). The pattern is identical to Mark 13: don't focus on timing, focus on being my witnesses. This is a post-resurrection confirmation that Jesus deliberately withheld timing information and redirected to mission.
