Sye's counter-reading of 1 Kings 18
Sye uses the 'policeman holding up a badge' illustration: the Israelites already knew Yahweh was God; Elijah's miracle was a demonstration/judgment not a proof to ignorant minds. The prophets of Baal were the ones claiming a different god. If this is truly an example of evidence being used to convince people of God's existence, the follow-through is that the convinced people (the prophets of Baal) were slaughtered — which Sye says would be the consistent implication for evidential apologetics. He also argues that miracles are given only for that moment and we cannot replicate them.
