Sye's summary critique of evidentialism
If an evidentialist says he gives evidence 'to expose the suppression of truth,' Sye would say 'amen.' But most evidentialists say they give evidence to convince someone of something they didn't know, which contradicts what Scripture says. Winger says 1 Kings 18 shows at face value that people didn't know, and evidence changed that; Sye maintains any interpretation of the passage consistent with Scripture must account for the sufficiency of pre-existing knowledge.
