Winger: The Bible explicitly says faith is not a work (Romans 4, Eph 2). Therefore, however faith works, it is not a work. Sye: You cannot simply relabel an action as non-work because of a prooftext — that is logically fallacious. If faith is not a gift from God but a choice you make, the logical consequence is that it is a work, regardless of the label. The question 'what makes you different from your neighbor who didn't believe?' has only two answers: what you did, or what God did.
