Church history: women had distinct ministry roles (baptism assistance, anointing); called deacons
Mike provides historical context for women's active ministry.
In later church history, men and women had different ministry roles. Women assisted with baptizing women and with anointing with oil when it needed to be placed somewhere other than the forehead. These women had to be appointed to these roles and were actually called deacons in church history. Co-worker and co-laborer are too general to prove authority roles; this is 'kitchen sink argumentation' -- scouring the NT for anything that could support women in leadership.
