Egalitarian argument: letter carriers were expected to teach the letter; Phoebe taught Romans
Mike introduces the letter-carrier-as-teacher argument.
Egalitarians claim there was an ancient custom where the letter carrier would teach the letter to its recipients upon arrival. They combine this with the claim that Phoebe carried the letter to the Romans, concluding she taught the most theologically profound letter in the NT. NT Wright claimed this at the video's opening. Craig Keener offers a softer version: Phoebe could probably explain details if questioned, as 'letter bearers sometimes were.'
