Wrath (Colossians 3:8) is the outward expression of anger — the outburst; James 1:19 commands slow speech as the antidote.
Distinction between anger (the feeling) and wrath (the expression); applied to marriage and conflict.
Wrath is when anger controls the body, voice, or actions — slamming doors, yelling, physical aggression, rage-quitting. James 1:19 commands every person to be slow to speak and slow to anger because the anger of man does not produce God's righteousness. The counter-instinct when upset is to speak faster and louder; Scripture calls for the opposite — silence and slowness, especially in marriage. Mike argues even redirecting anger to a pillow or screaming privately is still wrath controlling you; the call is to die to it entirely.
