Hebrews 10 and Mark 1:44 show that Jesus fulfilled the sacrificial system rather than rejecting or editing it

Brian Zahnd's False Gospel and Fake Jesus 00:37:26 – 00:47:11

Winger addresses Zahnd's claim that Jesus 'picked a side' against sacrifice and against the Torah.

Hebrews 10:5–12 quotes Psalm 40 in its proper Christological sense: 'a body you have prepared for me' refers to Jesus's body offered as the ultimate sacrifice. The passage explicitly says that the old sacrifices 'can never take away sins' — they were a temporary measure anticipating Christ, who offered 'for all time a single sacrifice for sins.' This is penal substitution in the New Testament text itself. Jesus did not reject sacrifice; he became the sacrifice. Additionally, in Mark 1:44, Jesus healed a leper and then commanded him: 'Go show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded.' Jesus in his earthly ministry actively directed people to perform Levitical animal sacrifice in compliance with Torah (Leviticus 14). Zahnd's claim that Jesus was editing out sacrifice is directly contradicted by Jesus commanding someone to perform one. John the Baptist's announcement 'Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world' (John 1:29) also confirms that Jesus was understood to be the sacrificial fulfillment of the Torah system, not its critic.
