Tom Schreiner's view: Junia as missionary focused on women's ministry

Were Women Apostles in the New Testament? Women in Ministry part 5 00:24:25 – 00:25:27

Mike introduces Schreiner's nuanced addition to the discussion.

Tom Schreiner agrees Junia could be a missionary but adds a nuance: if she was an apostle/missionary, she probably functioned particularly as a missionary to women. He cites Ernst Kasemann's observation that 'the wife can have access to the women's areas which would not be generally accessible to the husband.' A female missionary would have had different access and function than a male one in the gender-separated ancient world.
