Q&A: Did New Testament writers invent Gospel narratives from OT prophecies? — Refuted by extra-biblical confirmation of historical facts

The Gospels Are History Not Myth 01:19:53 – 01:22:29

Q&A from a persistent atheist questioner (Doug) suggesting Gospels were reverse-engineered from OT texts.

The "is it more likely" framing is a rhetorical device to avoid engaging with evidence. Mike acknowledges there ARE intentional connections between Jesus and OT (Passover lamb, Isaiah 53, Psalm 22, Son of Man in Daniel). He agrees this looks deliberate. But extra-biblical sources (consensus of historians) confirm: Jesus was an apocalyptic prophet, he died under Pontius Pilate, claims of resurrection on the third day arose immediately, his death coincided with Passover/Unleavened Bread, the church rose at Pentecost. These are historical facts verified outside the Bible. The OT-NT connections are real but they are fulfilled prophecy, not fabrication.
