The distinction between asking questions and using questions: SE uses questions as tools for instilling doubt, not seeking answers
Mike synthesizes the previous clip and explains SE's fundamental problem
Mike clarifies: there is nothing wrong with questions; he loves questions and seeks answers. The problem with SE is that questions are used instrumentally — to install doubt — and SE practitioners move on without engaging answers. If a SE practitioner asks a question and ignores the answer to ask another question, that is a red flag they are not after truth. Doubt is not a virtue. The fact that SE has become attractive partly because its "avoid facts" + just-ask-questions tactic is simple to execute is itself revealing.
